Work Package 1: Tuberculosis

This work package consists of two sub-work packages, one dealing with the diagnosis and management of childhood TB and the other dealing with TB drug resistance. Led by MRC Unit The Gambia at LSHTM, the activities of this work package are aimed at achieving the following objectives:
1. To strengthen diagnostics competency for adult and childhood TB with a clinical setting in the network
2. To strengthen laboratory diagnostics of TB using novel techniques such as GeneXpert
3. To strengthen the capacity of investigators at the site to write competitive and winning grant applications
4. To set up a site platform for Drug Susceptibility Testing (DST) for first- and second-line drugs in West Africa.
